My copy of Quake 4 is on four CDs and the installer would always error out on CD1. I'm only about 10 minutes into the game, but no issues with single player mode so far. Thanks to Robert's instructions, Quake 4 works for me, too. I copied over my old gamesaves to carry on where I last left of back in 2008, and am happily fragging the strogg □ I haven't tried Quake 4 Multiplayer, but the Quake 4 Single player seems to work fine. Once finished it creates Quake Single Player and Quake Multiplayer shortcuts.Download the Quake4-1.4.2 patch, and install this as "Other Application" in the Quake4 bottle. This is normal as like with DOOM3 it needs the patch so you don't run it from the DVD. Now the short cuts are created, but it still doesn't work.It will complain the cdkey.dll file is missing. Re-run the installation in the Quake4 bottle.Once installed, it tries to launch Quake4 and fails. The installer asks you to specify your serial, and if you want to install Punkbuster. In the Quake4 bottle, install Quake4 as "Other Application" by specifying the Setup.exe file.In the Quake4 bottle, install the DirectX Developer Pack from the Runtime Support Components. Here's how I got it work (I don't care for multiplayer, so I didn't install punkbuster). It's like DOOM3 really, it will fail unless you patch so you don't have to use the DVD. It seems to work fine for me on my 13" MacBook Air.
